Hopefully you caught the last article where I shared the first 8 Tips to Working Less And Making More. If not, just give us a call today and we will make sure we send it long to you so you can have the whole article. Last time I left off with taking a 1 minute POD or Pause, Re-Orient and Do break and why you need to do it. This post I am picking up from that point and introducing you the remaining nine tips starting with:
9. Group similar activities
If you have to go shopping, you might as well pick up the dry cleaning. Likewise, if you are calling prospects, get all those calls in during one block of time. Aside from the time efficiency, you’ll find your close ratio improves when you group calls together.
10. Determine the tempo for the day
This is a task best done as soon as you are awake. Simply spend two minutes in the morning “psyching yourself” up for how you’ll attack the day. You will find that it has an astonishing way of shaping that day’s events. If you convince yourself to be positive that day and not let the bumps get you down, you will find the day goes smoother and the evenings are better. Make it a habit and you’ll see your life change before your very eyes. This takes a little practice and discipline but, like anything in life, you will get good at it.
11. Reach out and touch your prospects and customers
Everyone agrees that they would get more business and consequently make more money if they called all of their prospects and customers but almost nobody ever does. Why? Because the assumption here is that it will take up too much time. The reality is that this need not be the case. Remember your technology package with Craig’s systems. You can reach everyone in less than two minutes if you do a Voice Broadcast. Here are the three quick steps.
- You record a brief message like “Hi, this is Joe’s Realty and I am just calling to wish you and your family a Happy Holiday! Also, please feel free to call me if you have any real estate questions or needs over the holidays at xxx-xxxx”
- You send AMS your database
- You tell us when you want your message sent
That’s all there is to it.
Again, if you have any questions about Voice Broadcasting, please, do not hesitate to call us at 1-800-858-8889. Any of our representatives will be happy to help you.
12. Make sure you take time to smell the Roses
Taking time to smell the roses is a great and quite practical old saying. In reality what it means is grabbing those two minutes or whatever you need during the day to reflect on what you’ve accomplished. Sometimes when we are going at 100 miles an hour with our hair on fire it’s hard to gain the “Proper Perspective”. Don’t let that happen to you. If you are going to take a coffee break, take it in a way that you have those 10 or 15 minutes to yourself or share with a friend who you find relaxing. Talk about the good things and the day’s successes. Leave the bad stuff behind because it will be there waiting for you anyway. If you have to drive somewhere leave early so you are not rushing. Listen to YOUR radio station. You have the power to gain this time so use it. Doing this will centre you and increase your productivity when you get back to work.
13. Turn off the Cell Phone
I know a lot of Real Estate Agents will fight me on this one and that’s okay. But, before you dismiss it completely, listen to the rationale for it. If you absolutely must be reachable at every moment of the day for fear of losing a client or something similar, three things are probably going on in your business:
- You are not in control of your time
- Your positioning is off since your clients perceive you as a replaceable commodity
- Your marketing funnel is not full enough so you don’t care about losing one client since there are many others waiting.
Hint: If you are following Craig Proctor’s system to the letter you already know that not being accessible makes you more desirable.
Make sure you take time out for you and your family and friends. Get balanced.
14. Be grateful to and for others
Every study seems to prove that our state of mind attracts its physical counterpart in the world. “What goes around – comes around”. What this means is being grateful brings you yet more things to be grateful for. You will attract like minded people who want to do business with you because you are positive and recognize and acknowledge others around you. The counterpoint to this is even more ominous. Being miserable brings you more things to be miserable for. Remember, “You can’t afford the luxury of a negative thought”
15. Vary your routine
Routines reinforce our thoughts and habits. So, if you think you need a change try shifting old habits and routines to see what new perspectives open up. It’s easy and can be fun. Try driving home a different way, take your dog to a different park, do something different this Friday night than you did the last 52 Fridays. Bring your partner flowers for no reason. This is a change everyone can enjoy.
16. Follow the Golden Rule
Be kind to others. Help an elderly person cross the street, encourage a young person to challenge themselves, or lend a helping hand. Volunteer for something you enjoy or are good at. The intent is not to make you a Boy Scout or Girl Guide. But the reality is obvious. Doing even one good deed every day will pay massive dividends in the way you feel about yourself. And that’s the worst case scenario. Don’t be surprised if the world starts coming back to repay you in the most unexpected ways.
I have shared 16 things that can make a difference in your life. The last tip is no secret BUT is often the reason why many fail. You have to implement. Building the best Priority List is meaningless if you don’t start checking things off the list. Remember my suggestion of doing 3 things a day. They don’t have to be big things. In fact, start with some small ones just to reinforce within yourself that you can actually get to items important and meaningful to you and your business. But please remember that without Tip 17, none of the others matter. So I guess I left the best for last.
